Established within the framework of the University's expansion and deepening initiatives in the field of social sciences, and in accordance with the correspondence of the Council of Higher Education dated 07/04/2010 and numbered 012015, the Department was founded as an affiliate unit of the Faculty. The Department commenced undergraduate and thesis-based master's education in the 2011–2012 Academic Year; doctoral education in the 2012–2013 Academic Year; and non-thesis master's education in the 2017–2018 Academic Year. The Department conferred its first graduates from the thesis-based master's programme in the 2012–2013 Academic Year, from the undergraduate programme in the 2014–2015 Academic Year, from the doctoral programme in the 2017–2018 Academic Year, and from the non-thesis master's programme in the 2018–2019 Academic Year.

Consisting of four sub-disciplines entitled "Legal Sciences", "Urbanization and Environmental Issues", "Politics and Social Sciences", and "Administrative Sciences", the Department conducts its educational activities — with interdisciplinary support from faculty members affiliated with other academic units of both the Faculty and the University — within the scope of a four-year undergraduate programme bearing the same name as the Department, as well as thesis-based and non-thesis master's programmes and a doctoral programme affiliated with the Institute of Social Sciences.

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL AIMS
Graduates of the Undergraduate Programme are expected to possess the following qualifications within a few years after graduation:

PEA 1. Employment and Career Development
Graduates will secure employment in positions related to political science and public administration in the public sector, local governments, international organizations, and the private sector, and/or will be placed in postgraduate education programmes.

PEA 2. Competency in Public Policy and Governance
Graduates will effectively employ analytical thinking, policy design, and evidence-based decision-making skills in the processes of public policy formulation, implementation, and evaluation.

PEA 3. Legal and Institutional Competency
Graduates will possess the competency to conduct legal analysis within the framework of constitutional law, administrative law, and relevant legislation required in public administration practice, and to interpret institutional processes.

Graduates of the Political Science and Public Administration Undergraduate Programme:

A. Knowledge
PLO 1. Explaining Theories and Concepts in the Field
Explain fundamental concepts, theories, and approaches pertaining to political science, public administration, law, administrative sciences, and urbanization and the environment; understand and evaluate the core theories, concepts, and frameworks of political science. Possess foundational subject-area knowledge specific to the programme, including the history of political thought, political systems, political economy, constitutional law, fiscal policy, local governments, administrative justice, the Turkish economy, and European Union relations.

PLO 2. Defining and Comparing Public Policy Processes
Define and compare the processes of public policy formulation, implementation, and evaluation, as well as governance models. Evaluate different political systems, public administration models, and current political developments from a comparative perspective.

B. Skills
PLO 3. Policy Analysis and Solution Development
Identify and analyse issues related to public policies through analytical methods, and develop policy recommendations. Conduct multidimensional analyses of current social, economic, and political events, evaluating the effects of different political and administrative structures.

PLO 4. Data Analysis and Policy Evaluation
Conduct policy evaluations by employing quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis, and interpretation methods. Interpret data pertaining to political, social, and administrative processes through scientific methods, and carry out academic and professional analyses.

PLO 5. Legal Text Analysis
Interpret legal texts to develop assessments pertaining to public administration practice. Analyse fundamental regulatory frameworks in constitutional law, administrative law, and administrative justice in relation to political and administrative processes.

PLO 6. Political and Administrative Process Analysis
Conduct multidimensional analyses of political and administrative processes at local, national, and international levels. Comprehend the interactions between political science and disciplines such as economics, diplomacy, public administration, and sociology, and carry out evaluations from an interdisciplinary perspective.
